This course will focus on the rehabilitation process of peripheral nerve injuries (PNI) and the evidence that supports therapeutic interventions to optimize recovery from these injuries. Emphasis will be placed on the use of current assessment tools, measuring outcomes and therapy

methods used in the rehabilitation of peripheral nerve injuries. Trends in the treatment of peripheral nerve injuries such as phase 1 and 2 in sensory re-education, mirror therapy, as well as other new trends based on the hand-brain interaction will be discussed.

Buts

Upon completion of the course participants are:

Familiar with the phases of recovery that occur following a peripheral nerve injury (PNI) and how this impacts rehabilitation.

Able to perform a sensory evaluation using Semmes Weinstein Monofilaments, 2 Point Discrimination and the Shape Texture Identification test.

Able to determine an outcome, using the Rosen Score.
