Understanding Hand Fractures

Description

This course provides a comprehensive overview of the clinical problem of “Fractures”. The concept of ‘relative stability’ of a healing fracture and how it applies to the progression of rehabilitation after a fracture will be discussed. Creating appropriate and individualized

treatment plans for the patients with a fracture in the hand or wrist will be discussed. Participants will have the opportunity to work collaboratively in smaller groups to review and discuss x-rays, clinical case studies and participate in other practical hands on activities.

Buts

Upon completion of the course participants will:

Be able to characterize different types of fractures in the hand, wrist and distal forearm and recognize the implications for treatment.

Be more comfortable with interpreting rays and other forms of imaging.
